The Phantom Tollbooth by Norman Juster

I read this when I was a kid but hadn't revisited it for over 20 years. I basically didn't remember anything about it except for the boy driving around in his car. But Dane discovered it on his bookshelf and read it and was talking about how good it was and wanted me to read it, and this was one I definitely wanted to remember. (Sometimes he wants me to read the most random books and I don't always have the energy.) I really liked re-reading this and it was fun to remember the funny wordplay and puns that make up a lot of the book. I wasn't sure how much of it a kid would understand, but apparently Dane understood enough of it to like it.

The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik

I instantly wanted to jump into this one after listening to A Deadly Education, but had to wait a week or so to get it from the library. It was just as good if not better than the first, and I loved how it went from being a super local focused problem to the kids trying to fix the monster problem for the entire magical world. I was totally enthralled by the entire story and could not wait to see how they conquered and managed to save the world--until the LITERAL LAST SENTENCE which left us with the BIGGEST CLIFFHANGER EVER. And then come to find out the next book in the trilogy doesn't come out until the fall! I was so disappointed. But definitely have something awesome to look forward to whenever it does come out.

The Duchess War by Courtney Milan

After reading #3 and #2 in this series, I had to get to #1. I actually think I enjoyed this one the least of the three so far because I had gotten used to the series and knew what to expect, and also, I never really cared as much about Minnie as the main character. But I did like Robert, her love interest/husband, and it was still a perfectly enjoyable romance.
